Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt talk about their kids and lives

Angelina Jolie is doing the press junket in England for Changeling, which opens there next week. Her partner Brad Pitt is promoting his film The Curious Case of Benjamin Button which is out this Christmas in the US.

Angelina talked to GMTV in the UK in an interview that’s making the rounds. You have to hand it to her, she really answers questions thoroughly and is pretty open with journalists. The mother of six talked about her imperviousness to the tabloid media and said that it’s a subject that they just don’t really consider in their household. She also said that not all of her children were with her in London but that they had brought four month old twins, Knox and Vivienne, with them.

On the tabloid headlines:
I don’t know about them. Fortunately the newspapers I read or the television programs I watch I’m not mentioned. I have nobody around me that brings up anything. It’s kind of rule around the house that we just ignore all that stuff.

Says the paparazzi don’t bother them:
It never worries us… we’re here and we’ve got our babies up in the room and we have to think about how we get them to the car and into the airport and hoping nobody pushes or shoves… We’re only here for one night. We just brought the twins.

On breastfeeding the twins: she stopped at three months
I stopped at three months. That was about as much as I could do. It’s very hard. You look at the books and see ‘oh there’s the football hold.’ It’s a lot harder than it looks in the book. I did that a few times, but I would take turns and it just takes a long time.

On getting pregnant during filming
We decided to start trying [to get pregnant] at the beginning and by the end I was. We shot the mental institution [scenes] last, so by the mental institution I was.

On ‘fading away’: never say never
Nobody should ever say “I’m retiring…” so it’s not as dramatic as that. It’s been a year since I’ve worked and I’ll work for a few months and maybe it will be another year, maybe two, and I’ll just work every once in a while… I feel very lucky… that I’m financially able to not work all the time.

On marriage: it’s not that important to her
It’s not [that important]. We jumped into being a family first and that seems like the biggest commitment you could make anyway. It doesn’t feel like anything is lacking.

On the media attention
We really just don’t talk about it. The only time it ever collides is if we’re trying to get ready for some event where we have to walk the carpet and somebody gets peed on.

Brad Pitt’s interview with Oprah airs today and everyone is jumping on the cute advance details that have come out. Oprah has a clip on her website in which Pitt says Angelina “has the biggest heart” and talks about how he’s become comfortable with the messy aspects of fatherhood and says “I’m impervious to poo, snot, urine, vomit… You can’t break me down.” Just Jared has a few more of Brad’s quotes, which are covered in brief advance segments that are available on People.com and US Weekly.

Brad is definitely less comfortable with interviews than Angelina but he’s doing what he has to do to promote his films, and he is giving out some personal information that people crave. It’s not too personal though and doesn’t seem out of the ordinary. Which parent hasn’t dealt with poo, pee and puke? We do have a friend who’s never changed his son’s diaper, though. That was just unbelievable to my husband and me.

Here’s Brad on Oprah, thanks to US Weekly. There are two more brief clips at People.com.
