I don’t really know how this happened, but shocking recent pictures of Tara Reid have emerged. Shocking because she’s so thin? No. So bloated in the face? So very clearly on eight kinds of drugs? Nope. Shocking because she looks decent. Non-totally-freak show ugly. Dare I say even almost normal?

Tara showed up to the premiere of The Women on Thursday evening looking most presentable. I forgot what a pretty girl she can be if only she tries a little. Now I sound like my mother. Next I’ll be screaming at Tara to put down the damn Rolos while tears actually well from my eyes. Anyways, Tara was looking quite nice. You can tell her inner whore was just aching to burst out – quite literally. He nipples were barely restrained. Still, considering they were barely restrained, they were still tucked properly in their respective places (or so I assume).

And the fact that she’s gotten a decent amount of press for simply showing up and not looking like absolute trash… well things are really looking up for Tara.

Madonna has always been a quirky lady. To the best of my knowledge, no one has ever accused her of being easy going or overly-accommodating. And considering how easy it is for her to back up her demands, she’s probably forgotten where the normal/bat-freaking-crazy line begins. Not that it would stop her, but it might help her tone it down.

According to the classic “insider sources” (which I think most likely means “disgruntled crew) she had all the toilets taken out, sanitized, and reinstalled before her recent concert in Nice, France. Yes, that’s taken out. Unscrewed. Lifted up. Hoisted, at some point. Each and every one that her Madgesty ass might touch.

Madonna is still the reigning queen of pop, so it’s not surprising that she’s picky about her thrones — especially when it comes to public toilets. Before her concert at the Palais Nakaia concert hall in Nice, France, on August 26, the singer had all of the commodes, showers and sinks removed, scrubbed down and then reinstalled. “Everyone thinks she did this because she hates the thought of dirty and germy things,” an insider tells In Touch.

The self-disciplined star has even admitted to her controlling ways. “Guy [Ritchie, her husband] tells me to loosen up,” she has said. “My friends do, too, but I can’t. I’ve always been this way.” And it’s not the first time the Material Girl has been occupied with lavatory troubles, the insider notes: “During her tour last year, a man stole some of the toilets from the Madonna tour and sold them on eBay for nearly $8,000!’’ Madge kicked off her Sticky & Sweet tour on August 23 in Wales, where the latrines were presumably spotless.

Since she and husband David moved to L.A., Victoria Beckham claims that their family has been treated like characters in Disneyland – and she means that as an absolute compliment. Whereas other celebs might preface such a statement with original thoughts like “We feel like monkeys caged at the zoo,” “the paparazzi makes us feel like prisoners in our own neighborhood!” etcetera, when Posh says it she means it more along the lines of, “We’re treated like foreign diplomats!” or “Strangers lay down in the street so my Manolos don’t get sloshed in a puddle.” And that is why they all love Los Angeles.

Victoria Beckham loves the way her Californian neighbours always wave to her.

She and husband David, who moved to the States wit [sic] their three boys last year, says everyone in her neighbourhood is incredible friendly.

‘They are very positive, the Americans,’ she reveals. ‘Everytime I come out of the drive in my car they wave like we’re characters from Disney.’

Fark pointed out that Posh might feel like she’s a character at Disneyland due to her remarkable resemblance to several animated creatures. They mentioned Minnie Mouse, but I’ll keep that to myself since pointing out the freakish resemblance would be rude. And certainly un-American, by Victoria’s definition.

Nonetheless, what a strange comparison. I can’t imagine a celebrity would ever think to make that analogy and phrase it like a positive.

Britney’s people and MTV swear she’s not going to be performing at the VMAs, but MTV admits that she’s opening the awards so she’s got to be doing something. MSN has posted this video of her practicing her dance moves with backup dancers to some new music. I guess she’ll be doing a dance routine at the VMAs and not bothering to lipsync this time. She seems to be preparing well and this routine looks decent. Will it be enough for her supposed comeback though? It doesn’t look all that different from what she did last year. Britney is persistent, you can say that for her.

Filmmaker Michael Moore is doing something pretty novel: he is releasing his entire next film “Slacker Uprising” on the internet. There will be no theatrical release, and the film isn’t being streamed; it will be available on BlipTV. Everyone can download the entire thing online, and Moore’s not asking for any compensation in return – except for a record voter turnout.

Firebrand filmmaker Michael Moore will release his latest documentary exclusively on the Internet for free on September 23, eschewing a traditional theatrical rollout, he said on Thursday.

“Slacker Uprising” documents Moore’s 62-city tour of key swing states during the 2004 U.S. presidential election, when he tried to convince young non-voters to give voting a shot.

“This is being done entirely as a gift to my fans,” Moore said in a statement. “The only return any of us are hoping for is the largest turnout of young voters ever at the polls in November.”

“Slacker Uprising,” budgeted modestly at over $2 million, was funded by Moore along with movie executives Bob and Harvey Weinstein, who hold international rights, said a spokesman for Moore.

It marks his follow-up to the healthcare expose “Sicko,” which earned just $24.5 million at the North American box office last year, far short of the $119 million haul for his 2004 political blockbuster “Fahrenheit 9/11.”

It’s a pretty interesting concept. I’m assuming they’ll be some sort of advertising and someone will make some money somehow, but who knows? Reuters does make an interesting point in that Moore’s last film didn’t make much money at the box office. Maybe he thought he’d have a better chance of getting his message out this way, and that was more important to him. It’s all speculation, but interesting to wonder about. Perhaps this is where more mainstream films are headed as well.

Jessica Simpson keeps insisting on giving awkward and downright bad performances, along with oversharing about everything in her life, from her relationships to her bodily functions. Jessica gave what was clearly a nervous performance in Nashville recently, where she babbled incessantly and also talked about maybe needing to throw up.

You’d think Jessica Simpson would be an old pro at performing. But at the Nashville listening party for her new country album, Do You Know, on Thursday night, the singer was just a bit freaked out. “I’m a little nervous,” said Simpson to a crowd of nearly 200 record industry folks at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center. “If I throw up, I’m sorry.”

Brushing her blonde hair from her face, she continued: “Thank you so much for coming and for giving me a chance. I hope you get to experience what my heart’s been going through the last few years.”

Leading into “Remember That,” Simpson urged women “in that [abusive] situation to take their hearts and run.” She later smiled tearfully to her preacher dad Joe Simpson and mom Tina in the audience while explaining that “Pray Out Loud” is a song about faith and family. And before the bittersweet song, “Sippin’ on History,” Simpson said, “It’s about a relationship in my life that could have been a fairy tale, but wasn’t.”

Simpson got warm applause after each song. But she seemed most proud of something else entirely.

“I didn’t throw up!” Simpson exclaimed at the end of her set.

And to think some people believe Simpson oozes anything but class! Her recent concert in Niagara Falls, Canada, was similarly panned (though much more specifically). The critic noted that she babbled too much, for too long, and in a completely pointless manner. And she does it before every single song, which ruins whatever momentum she gets going.

It almost seems compulsive. I can babble when I’m nervous, and as a rule the more nervous I am, the stupider the stuff that falls out of my mouth will be. But I try to stay mindful of this. Simpson is a professional, and should be able to control her incessant jabbering, whatever the reason. She needs some kind of life coach or something; basically that person that’ll tell you things your friends and employees won’t. First she’ll have to find someone she can pay to be around her, and considering how annoying she sounds, she may not have any lucky.

Celebitchy thinks that Jessica needs people to like her and is too much of a people pleaser. That makes sense… except you’d expect her to be more likeable. If this is her trying, that’s pretty sad.

It takes a brave man to admit to watching tons of porn these days. Wait, no. It takes an average, normal man to admit to watching tons of porn these days. And that’s pretty much the reputation upon which Seth Rogen has built his career: the average guy who’s funnier than most. Rogen is starring in Kevin Smith’s upcoming film “Zack and Miri Make a Porno.” It’s about two best friends who decide to make a porn film in order to pay down their debts. Rogen says he was into the film from the moment he got an email from Kevin Smith; not just because of the chance to work with his icon, but because… what guy doesn’t love a film about porn?

Smith wrote the script with Rogen in mind, having seen the actor in the acclaimed short-lived TV series “Freaks and Geeks” and later in “The 40-Year-Old Virgin.” By the time Smith finished the script in spring 2007, Rogen was the cusp of leading-man stardom with “Knocked Up.”

“I started seeing billboards going up with his face on them and I was like, we lost this guy,” Smith said. “This dude was like a supporting actor in `40-Year-Old Virgin’ and he’s just waiting for somebody to give him his own movie.” But Smith said that when he sent an e-mail to Rogen asking if he would read the screenplay, the actor shot back an answer within 2 minutes. Rogen read “Zack and Miri” on the beach in Australia while doing press for “Knocked Up” and was eager to sign on from the start.

The comedic sex depicted in “Zack and Miri” is tame by hardcore pornography standards, and the subject matter never gave Rogen a moment’s pause. “I love porn. I watch tons of porn. The Internet speeds have evolved directly with my sexual drive,” Rogen said. “I almost did it purely based on the title.”

Something tells me that if Rogen is anything like most guys his age, he’s been researching this movie role religiously for at least the last ten years. Kevin Smith does movies that you either love or hate; there doesn’t really seem to be much middle ground. But this film seems like it could cross over into a larger audience, if for no other reason than the title alone. I’m pretty sure 99% of the guys that go to see it are going to end up pretty disappointed by the relatively tame sex scenes. Well, tame compared to all the aforementioned porn.

ALEC BALDWIN contemplated suicide after an angry phone message to his daughter became public.

In a new autobiography he tells of his spiral into depression after the media revealed he had called 11-year-old Ireland a “thoughtless little pig” in a heated voicemail, left when she didn’t answer a pre-arranged call.

And the actor, who shared custody with ex-wife KIM BASINGER at the time, became suicidal when the Los Angeles County Superior Court commissioner suspended his visitation rights.

An insider who has read Baldwin’s soon-to-be published book, A Promise to Ourselves: A Journey Through Fatherhood and Divorce, said: “He writes about how he was serious about suicide. He definitely put a lot of thought into the different ways he could accomplish it.”

Instead the actor decided to seek treatment.

“Alec writes in the book that a doctor told him he’d be no good to anyone - especially Ireland - if he destroyed himself,” added the source.

Baldwin’s book hits shelves at the end of the month.

Meanwhile, Alec is also complaining that his hit show, “30 Rock,” doesn’t get the attention or ratings it deserves and is treated by NBC executives as a “redheaded stepchild.” This caused Greg Garcia, creator and head writer for another hit NBC show, “My Name is Earl,” to fire back at Baldwin in a heated statement.

One man with little sympathy for Alec is Greg Garcia, creator of much-superior show ‘My Name Is Earl’ who has highlighted his divine writing skills by penning one of the better put downs to Baldwin since ‘Team America’.

“Maybe the reason enough people aren’t watching 30 Rock to make Mr. Baldwin happy is because Alec Baldwin is so unlikable as a person. 30 Rock is a really funny show. And Alec Baldwin is funny as long as someone else is writing his words. When left to his own devices, he sounds like a psychotic narcissist who whines about being rich.”

Ouch! To be fair, Alec has been quite uninspiring in some movies as well (’The Shadow’ anyone?). Greg (who is fast becoming a personal favourite) wasn’t done yet though…

“Instead of blaming NBC, I think Alec should consider that some people in America may not want to watch a man who cusses out his own 11 year old daughter on a phone message, calling her a “rude thoughtless little pig.” It’s a shame that the people who produce such a funny show have to put up with such a distasteful man on a daily basis.”

Let’s see if Alec can come up with an equally scathing reply by himself or if he needs a team of writers to do it for him.

Oh, it’s ON. I doubt Alec will be able to stay silent on this. I do find it interesting that Alec only felt bad about verbally abusing his child after the tape leaked to the media. However, I have no idea what he’s had to deal with in ex-wife Kim Basinger- she’s always seemed a little unstable to me. Still, he does have a reputation for having a bad temper and a huge ego - which makes him so perfect for the character he plays on “30 Rock.” As for his claims about how the show is treated, I really can’t agree. NBC has been promoting the hell out of the show, especially after its numerous Emmy wins last year. And the show has made its creator, Tina Fey, a superstar. Maybe Alec’s just jealous because she’s getting all the attention.

Ann and Nancy Wilson are pissed at the Republican Party and have fired off a cease and desist letter to the McCain/Palin campaign.

Specifically, the Heart women are upset that the GOP has used their classic “Barracuda” as a theme song for Sarah Palin. TMZ obtained a statement from Heart’s rep, who says “The Republican campaign did not ask for permission to use the song, nor would they have been granted that permission.”

The statement goes on: “We have asked the Republican campaign publicly not to use our music. We hope our wishes will be honored.”

We’re told Ann was watching TV today and heard the song at the convention when Palin was touted.

UPDATE: Twenty minutes after we posted this story, the GOP ended the evening after McCain’s speech with the song, “Barracuda.”

The Wilson sisters join a growing list of musicians who don’t want their songs associated with politics - particularly the Republican party. It started back in the 80s when Ronald Reagan tried using Bruce Springsteen’s “Born in the USA” for his campaign song. The McCain camp alone has received three other cease and desist letters, from Van Halen (for his use of the song “Right Now”), John Mellencamp (for the song “Pink Houses”), and Orleans (for the song “Still the One.”) Mike Huckabee also got slapped down by Mellencamp for his use of “ROCK in the USA.” Mellencamp stated in a Newsweek article that he’s an Obama supporter.

Maybe the Republicans should ask artists before appropriating their songs or hire artists to write songs for them - John Rich of the country western group Big & Rich has penned a song for the Republican presidential candidate John McCain called…wait for it…”Raising McCain.”
